Gerald Sheehan, NYPD (Retired)

and Bomb Threat Management in Schools
Gerald Sheehan is a certified Bomb Technician and former
Commanding Officer of the NYPD Bomb Squad, the largest and oldest Bomb
Squad in the United States. Mr. Sheehan has conducted high level sensitive
investigations with the FBI, ATF, Secret Service and the State Department.
He was responsible for supervising top-secret security details for
the President of the United States, foreign dignitaries and major sensitive
events in the New York City area, including the World Series, Fleet
Week and the U.S. Tennis Open.
Mr. Sheehan is also a certified in Cause and Origin
and former Commanding Officer of the NYPD Arson & Explosion Squad.
He has served on the Arson & Explosion Steering Committee of the
International Association of Chiefs of Police and the chairmen of the
Equipment Committee of the National Bomb Squad Commanders Advisory
Board.
Mr. Sheehan has taught or lectured extensively in the
United States and Canada for law enforcement, educational institutes
and private industry including the US Army/FBI Hazardous Device School
in Huntsville, AL, U.S. Department of Homeland Security, Center for
Domestic Preparedness, Anniston, AL, NYPD Homicide and Criminal Investigation
Courses, Federal Law Enforcement Training Center in Glynco, GA, the
University of New Haven, John Jay College, St. Johns University, A.P.P.L.
(Area Police/Private Security Liaison), the American Academy for Professional
Law Enforcement and numerous large corporations, I.e. Siemens Corporation,
Federal Reserve Bank of New York, Emigrant Savings Bank and the Empire
State Building.
During Mr. Sheehan's tenure with the NYPD he has responded
to thousands of bomb and arson related incidents. These situations
have afforded him the opportunity to evaluate, and learn from, the
positive and negative aspects of corporate security, and ultimately
incorporate this information into his lecturing programs. |
