Writing Successful Grant Applications

Course Overview:
This two day course is designed to provide participants with the required knowledge
and skills to produce an effective grant proposal. Participant will understand
the various funding sources and the general requirements and terminology
used for each; evaluate funding sources and determine the correct funding
source(s) for a project. The course uses active learning techniques to engage
participants in the processes of grant writing form idea (program) inception
to funding evaluation. Participants will develop a sample project by completing
a program narrative, budget, timeline, and internal evaluation plan. In addition,
participants will demonstrate an understanding of the evaluation and selection
processes used by funding agencies.
Participants completing this course will:
- Develop effective grant applications
- Develop convincing problem statements
- Write effective goals and objectives
- Understand the importance of developing project budgets and
budget narratives
- Develop realistic timelines
- Integrate community planning and collaboration into the application
process
- Identify appropriate funding sources
- Understand the evaluation and selection processes of funding
agencies
